Sue can offer you several therapies and training for a variety of issues and problems:

The choice of therapies is based upon several factors; the type of problem or symptom presented, your needs and goals the therapy best suited to your personality and your preferences.

Suggestion Therapy

This is the most common therapy used within hypnotherapy. Sue will make suggestions for changes in behaviour, habits and perception during hypnosis and, because your subconscious mind is constantly seeking to help improve your life, positive suggestions are literally “soaked up” and put into practice.  If your mind doesn’t believe this is helpful or not it’s not wanted, your mind will ignore it.  Your mind is always keeping you safe.  It is not possible to me made to do things your mind doesn’t want to do and as a professional therapist, Sue will make sure that you decide on the course of therapy

Suggestion therapy works superbly well for habits (i.e. smoking, over-eating and nail-biting) but will not remove significant levels of underlying anxiety and worry long-term, so is not suitable for permanent removal of deep-seated problems such as phobias, depression and panic attacks.

Useful for…

Suggestion Therapy in Hypnosis can be used for one-off situations which will not arise often, for example fear of flying, for new issues, or when time limitations apply.

It’s also a very effective technique used with sports people, enabling them to tap into their peak potential, for students to overcome exam nerves and to help business people feel ‘more motivated’ to close that sale or perform at their best

Psychotherapy (with or without Hypnosis)

Our personality is essentially moulded during our childhood, based upon our environment, our relationships and events arising during that time.

For some people one aspect of their lives or one single event can have a profound affect on their beliefs and personality and this can produce fears, phobias or habits which will cause problems in later life.

Useful for…

Psychotherapy can be used with adults (over the age of 20 years) in order to seek the root cause of their issue or symptom. Once the cause has been established, the problem or symptom will disappear or be reduced significantly.

In this therapy, hypnosis can be used to speed up the relaxation process, before starting the session, but will not affect the outcome of the session.  It is your choice whether whether you choose hypnosis.  We can try both routes, so you can decide if you’d like

If you feel there’s something in your past you’ve not dealt with (even if you don’t know exactly what it is), this might be the right therapy for you

Applied Psychology – (Relaxed Living Programme)

Designed to show that what we think affects creates a feeling or emotion and then how we react.  This is not really a therapy, more a training course, to show you how to manage your thoughts to get the most from your life.

Sue can show you how small changes in the way you manage your thoughts can help you to avoid negative emotions and because of this, symptoms reduce and can eventually stop altogether, or be reduced to the point where they don’t affect your life.

For which issues and problems?

The Relaxed Living Programme (Applied Psychology) is a very practical programme with one-to-one sessions. This works for everything from lack of confidence to panic attacks, social anxiety, depression and phobias.

The advantage of this programme is that we don’t go looking through your past (many clients have already been there and done that through counselling.)  We concentrate on learning to live in the here and now, without building anxiety about what might happen and with an underlying belief that, whatever happens, you can deal with it.

Building your belief in the resources you naturally have is important.  For example, if you can see times when you handled a disappointment in your life (rather than concentrating on anything that stopped you in your tracks,) then a future disappointment is easier to manage, when it happens.  We often concentrate on the bad results to avoid feeling bad again; but what if you could channel the good results and learn from the bad?  You will tackle problems more easily and with more belief in your ability to do well.  You’ll be able to minimise the downside of problems,  solve more issues and move on quickly and positively

How will you improve your life?

Sue will teach you how to avoid brooding on what might happen, so you can reduce anticipatory anxiety.  You can learn to save your emotional energy and give problems the level of attention they deserve…when they actually do happen

Less emotional than psychotherapy, this is a more practical (and easier) route for many people.  Children do particularly well with this programme and will deal with significant issues in 5/6 sessions, whilst adults average 8/9 sessions

Rapid Release Therapy

For some people a worrying thought, a fear, phobia or distressing memory seems to keep hold of them no matter what they do, and no matter how much they talk about it.  Perhaps the time when you had a bumpy flight and now can’t bear to fly, or when you were small and had to have a jab and now you hate needles.  Or maybe it’s much more recent; your relationship break-up and the way you just can’t let the feelings go, or the embarrassing event that you replay over and over in your mind.

For people like you, we can use the Rapid Release Therapy (sometimes alongside other therapy), to quickly access the old memories, issues and distressing feelings.  We can then replace them with more positive, helpful feelings.  You’re not going to start loving dentists, but you’ll be fine in the dentist’s chair, as Sofia found…

“Just to let you know I went to my dental appointment this morning and had to have 4 injections in my mouth, at first I was slightly worried because I didn’t have time to imagine my ‘safe place’, but by the time he put the next needle in I was completely fine and calm.

It definitely was not as traumatic and painful as I used to believe it was. I’m just emailing to say how grateful and appreciative I am, it really has helped me so much!”

Sofia Di Salvo, Bedford

Often all you’ll need is one or two sessions…

in fact it’s so effective you’ll be just as amazed as Sofia was, that something which used to really upset or frighten you, has now just gone!
